If my dog has a tooth ache?

my puppy has a tooth that has cracked in half, i dontknow how it happend but now hes just laying there, looking kind of sad. how do i relive his pain?

dogs often can break teeth chewing on somthing, bones, cow hooves rocks,, and such..


It can be a very painfull issue, or one the dog has no problems with untill a later date.. it is possible this tooth has been broken for a while and only now is having issues..





there really is no over the counter, or home treatment for this.. so as soon as possible get to the vet, bring her in on a empty stomach because she may need to have the tooth treated or removed.. Traditional treatment, is extraction of the broken tooth, because there is a risk for infection and root abcess when a tooth is damaged..





There are ways to save some teeth, this does require a vet with the equipment and training, Root canals, crown restorations are avalible,, but honesly it is very expensive,, $500-$100 in some cases cannot be done, or cost vs benifit is not their to save a tooth..because dogs do fine missing some teeth.. but you can dissucs this with your vet.





Either way, this does require a vet, they can provide you with propper pain managment, treatment, antibiotics,, and such..


If the dog is very lethargic, then going to the vet ASAP is recommended,, it is always possible the dog is not feeling well for some other reason and the tooth has been broken for a long time,,and just a incidental finding.. dogs often do not act sick with damaged teeth,, so that is a concern..
