What helps calm a tooth ache when painkillers don't?

I know there must be home remedies for this type of pain that are effective so if you know one, please respond!

What helps calm a tooth ache when painkillers don't?
A warm, wet tea bag helps, just lightly bite it and hold it there for awhile. It's the tannic acid in the tea that soothes the pain.
Reply:there called dentists, and you should see one.
Reply:have you tried swishing your mouth with coldish water? it usually helps me.
Reply:I have heard of Oil of Clove, but I have never actually tried it.
Reply:garlic. put a piece of garlic in a small piece of cheesecloth and place it on the gum. bad breath....but it helps the toothache until you can get into the dentist
Reply:Ice to numb the pain.
Reply:WEED,I guess, or a visit to the dentist.
Reply:cloves
Reply:A case of Budweiser? It can't hurt.
Reply:like you;ve heard, oil of cloves. It comes in a tiny bottle at the drug store about $4, hurts like a mother bear at first, but then bye bye pain FOR GOOD!
Reply:Oral gel

Heat (I heat salt in a pan on the stove and dump in a washcloth and apply right to area that hurts. The salt can be reheated over and over again)
Reply:I heard a rumor that if you put a pistol in your mouth and pull the trigger, the toothache will not bother you anymore.

Seriously though, if it's bad enough that painkillers don't help it's time to go see the dentist. I lived with a broken molar for 5 YEARS and it finally became so infected that when I had it removed he could not deaden it at all. I felt the entire thing! :-( Owie!
Reply:warm salt water swishes or

if you have whiskey in the house put a little in your

mouth and try to hold it on the tooth that is hurting.

These 2 things helped me one night when my tooth was hurting.
Reply:Try putting a whole clove on or around the sore tooth.
Reply:straight whiskey it works for me i have a broken tooth that i have had for a while anytime it hurts a gargling of whiskey makes the pain go away
Reply:it might not sound like it works but it does ,rub the palm of your hand, try the hand either closet to the heart or side tooth is on, rub in circular motion close to the thumb, rub until pain ease

you should feel better in 3 min
Reply:Rub whiskey on that bad tooth. Might wanna drink a lot of it too. Numb the tooth and your mind and pass out. Do this at home though or have a DD.
Reply:Antibiotics, sometimes the pain is coming from an infection
Reply:try ambesol , orajel or get some ground cinnamon and rub on area
Reply:In addition to using the pain medication of your choice, sleep on an extra pillow to elevate your head. Sleep on the side that does NOT have a toothache. If that doesn't work, you can move to a recliner or the sofa so you can keep your head really elevated. This will minimize the blood flow to the area and therefore minimize the throbbing and pain. This might help you make it through the night until you can see a dentist.
Reply:Follow responses from Tubby and Dr Sam above, and your tooth ache will soon be a song to you.
Reply:i know this is gonna sound weird, but it really works for me. I get a regular aspirin, the white ones that aren't coated. I put it directly ON the tooth and let it dissolve there. I don't know why it works, but it does.
