I have a tooth ache but no insurance or much money to go see a dentist. What do you suggest...I'm in pain!

Go the grocery store, they sell stuff for toothaches....this is a temp. fix...so be prepared to make payments if you dont' have insurance.....

Hang in there!

I have a tooth ache but no insurance or much money to go see a dentist. What do you suggest...I'm in pain!
Hopefully you live in Australia because I'm suggesting you go to the Dental Hospital where all emergencies are seen at no or very little cost.
Reply:just keep it clean, brush it, mouth wash, etc. take some tylonel
Reply:Let me tell you , having been a Dental Assistant there is nothing you can do. Honestly, you need to find the nearest dentist because you might end up with much bigger problems.
Reply:See if there are any free clinics in your area. Also some dental schools offer reduced rates as well.

For the immediate pain I recommend excedrin, it has tylenol, and caffeine, and asprin.
Reply:Ibuprofen, Tylenol. You could also use a teabag over the tooth if abcessed this will help draw out any infection. You can try a toothbrush to see if some food is caught in or around the tooth.
Reply:Ambesol and an ibupfrofen for starts
Reply:Hey sorry to hear that go to a free clinic they can always help you. You could also try asking a family member, friends, or organizations for help. If that doesn't work maybe you should go to a dentist and ask them for their opinion. Maybe your get a nice person who will just take a free look. (Its worth a try)
Reply:Sorry, but eventually you are going to have to see a dentist. it would be dangerous not to. but to help with the pain until you find one - try these suggestions.

Buy some fresh whole cloves at the grocery - and prop one near the tooth and as you suck on it, it will dull the pain. Also if you can find some potters clay - either from a college art class or from the desert if you live in the southwest and wrap it all around the tooth and leave it there for about twenty minutes, every two hours or so.

The clay will draw out the infection and fluid and take some of the pressure off to give you a break from the pain and some time to find some help.

When you finally get the tooth removed, or fixed, call your state reps and tell them what a crappy situation you were in and run down the importance of med care in the united states before the next election.

good luck
Reply:GO SEE A DENTIST...don't waste your time with pain med's...it will only temporarily decrease the pain. What's with the teabag drawing out the infection? What journal did he/she get that from? Teabags WILL NOT decrease pain or "draw out infection"...teabags may help decrease bleeding.
Reply:First of all, DO NOT LISTEN to anyone telling you to get an over the counter quick fix! If you are in pain that means there's a problem and most likely an infection. Orajel WILL NOT fix it. If you let the tooth ache go - it will get worst. The worst it gets the more expensive it will be to get treatment. If there is an infection, it can spread and you will need antibiotics to treat it. What you can do is call the local colleges that have dental schooling. You can be seen by a "student dentist" and the cost is very very low. Many people without insurances go this route because it is affordable. Unfortunately, many dental offices do not offer payment plans because people just dont pay. There is a dental credit card called CARE CREDIT that many people without insurance use to get dental work they need. You can apply for care credit right online. They offer a year with no interest. If absolutely all else fails, I suggest contacting a local church and explaining. I know the dentist I work for does several charity cases for people in need. Maybe the church's know of a dentist that is willing to help. Another thing you can do is try putting a posting on craigslist to barter services. Maybe you can offer to clean the office of a dentist that is willing to help you or offer other services as payment. It may be hard to find a dentist willing to help but there are still people that care out there. If all else fails, go to the emergency room and get a perscription for the infection and call different dentists to get price quotes for how much an extraction costs. Good luck!
Reply:Good luck man....because you live in the USA....you will will suffer until you need to go to an emergency room. Then you will get **** treetment. They will give you some good pain pills......just try to save enough money to get the tooth pulled out. It will cost you about $200.00.
