If you have tooth ache do you go and have it sorted?

or do you suffer and hope it goes away...i have met a few people lately who would rather suffer the pain than have the dentist pull the tooth...i don't understand how anyone would rather suffer toothache than have it removed it only takes a couple of minutes...oh yeah thats asuming you can find a dentist

If you have tooth ache do you go and have it sorted?
I had severe tooth ache a couple of weeks ago and trust me it is much better to go to the dentist and get it seen to than put up with the pain as it is unlikely to go away.
Reply:A Tooth ache can an will only get worse and the rest of your teeth are in need of save my tooth life or else

gum your food to death
Reply:omg! for real? well id rather see teh dentist, a good one! god! i hate my current 1, he cant even answer a few simple questions!
Reply:You won't necessarily have to have it pulled out. Good thing for a tooth ache is to rub clove oil onto the affected area. Try this for a few days before seeing a dentist.
Reply:You are most unlikely to need an extraction More likely the tooth will be saved with afilling if you act quickly.

Make an appointment with your dentist ASAP?

Furthermore if you brush your teeth for two minutes morning and night, avoid eating sweets, you may hardly ever need a dentist.
Reply:it will get worse and worse i made this mistake once, never again

I have a tooth ache but can't get into see my dentist till tomorrow afternoon?

besides rubbing cocaine on my tooth to numb it,what else can i do to help ease the pain...jk about the coke*wink*

I have a tooth ache but can't get into see my dentist till tomorrow afternoon?
From experience.......

It will help if you trade off taking tylenol, then 4 to 6 hours later take advil, then 4 to 6 hours later take the tylenol again ,,, and keep trading off like that.

Rinse every hour with warm salt water, or 1 part of peroxide and 5 parts water and rinse with that .

I've heard that if you wet a tea bag and set it on the area it will help.., and if you smoke, don't! The sucking action of the mouth like smoking or drinking out of a straw will make it really worse.

Good luck!!
Reply:TO BAD JUST WAIT!
Reply:Use anbesol or oragel on the tooth. Also take some ibuprofen or naproxen for the pain. Cloves are good to use too.
Reply:wash your mouth with hot water and salt, take a pill it will help!!!!
Reply:I bought this toothache medicine that looks like a paintbrush in a thin meteal tube.I bought it at Tops grocery store for about 6$ %26amp; it worked great.
Reply:orjel ... a lot of it b/c it doesn't last long
Reply:anbesol can help you for few mins, or put ice to ease the bump

take Advil, it's the best medicine I had for tooth pain, but it takes 15 to 20 mins to get affective, and you need to take every 4 hours to keep the pain away. and be careful, don't over take it.
Reply:I would just pul that toth out, i always yused 2 get tooth aches but i ended up pulling out all of my teath so , my problum is solved
Reply:Take 4 Ibuprofren every 4-6 hours along with the oragel or ambesol.
Reply:I feel your pain - I just went through a similar experience that ended with a root canal. All I did was take Motrin every 2-4 hours and avoid chewing on that side. Sorry about your tooth...good luck.
Reply:You probably have an infection. I suggest you boil water with enough salt, bring that to a boil and let the water cool down alittle. Make sure it's warm enough where you can tolerate it in your mouth. Rinse and you will feel 100% better!! Hope you feel better.
Reply:Call the dentist. If you are in a lot of pain ask for a prescription for some pain pills. They did it for me they should do it for you.
Reply:Take Advil or Tylenol, or Anbesol can also be helpful, but I don't like it, because it tastes icky.
Reply:Go get some of that Ambesol that you can rub on them!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Get to the drug store for some "Anbusol" and rub that in

How is a tooth ache cured with a home rememedy?

Can an in the tooth infection affect a heart murmer?

How is a tooth ache cured with a home rememedy?
oil of clove on tooth...ancient remedy.
Reply:Try holding hydrogen peroxide in your mouth or putting a crushed asprin on the tooth. Shouldn't affect heart murmur.
Reply:A tooth ache caused by an infection can be cured 1 of 2 ways: 1- treatment by a qualified medical professional

2- your bodies natural ability to fight off infection.

Although there may be many theories of wholistic healing, there are none that are scientifically proven to cure an infection.

Any infection can affect a heart murmur. That's why you really should go to a dentist.
Reply:dont worry about your hear murmer but it depends on whats up with your tooth, odds are the longer you go without dental care the worse and more expensive it will get. but if its infected, an old jail remedy is dip a q-tip in bleach and dab the infected area.mouth wash is great for killing bacteria in the mean while
Reply:I'm not sure about the heart murmer, but I know that you can put a BC headache powder on the infected tooth, it will stop the pain for a while.
Reply:a tooth infection can effect about anything a tooth infection is also a poison that is in your gums that can enter your blood stream. my husband and i have has such problems. i have sense had those teeth removed and my husband had to have major surgery to get his out. his face swelled like the elephant man, if they didn't catch it it would have reached his brain and in the heart issue you bring up, you should also think of where a tooth infection can hit that can kill than just mummer. rinse with strong mouthwash to help cut some of the pain. it will hurt at first, but also numb it a bit, warm washcloth on the area of the jaw near the tooth also. some say to suck on a aspirin in the tooth's location. some also rinse with peroxide without swallow to help kill the pain. if a blister is near the infection, pop It and drain it like a zit, sound gross, but it helped my husband. we went to our local dental college and paid less than a regular dentist to have it pulled. check your area or that if money for dental is hard. even help centers sometimes get dentist volunteering their time to pull teeth, not much else in fear of being sued. hope this helps.
Reply:try advil or tylenol for the pain. use an ice pack on the jaw. brush and floss more often.

get to the dentist and/or urgent care for medical treatment.

an infection can lead to worse than a heart murmur.
Reply:Try a bit of raw parsley, chew it a little then stick it on the sore tooth. Not sure about the heart . If you are concerned, seek medical help.

I had very strong tooth ache, though I know I don't have cavities nor infections?

The pain kept moving from one tooth to another, it happened several times and some of those times painkillers worked, other times they had no effect at all. I suspect it could be because of a wisdom tooth that is growing now, it's half way out, and the pain was mostly on that side too. I don't have the possibility to see a dentist at the moment (and for the next week). Do you have any clue what this could be?

I had very strong tooth ache, though I know I don't have cavities nor infections?
You didn't say if it was an upper tooth or a lower one...but that could have caused your pain either way. All the nerves are connected...However, it may also be an infection in the gum..hard to say.

You can use Ibuprofen ..it helps with both pain and inflammation, but check with your pharmacist about taking it together with the pain killers.

*Warm saltwater rinses

*Mix 1/2 water and 1/2 Hydrogen peroxide and rinse with that

DON'T swallow it, but if there is any infection around the

incoming wisdom tooth, it will help. A lot of times, if the tooth is half in and half out, bacteria will build up under the gum...called Pericoronitis.

* Anbesol or Orajel

Keep the area around the wisdom tooth really clean!!!

Good Luck..hope you feel better soon.
Reply:Its could be your sinus' that can cause sore teeth.
Reply:You could be right about the wisdom tooth being the culprit. It may be pushing on the other teeth as it grows out, causing them to hurt. If that is what it is, you'll just have to live with it until you can see a dental examination to determine if extraction of the wisdom tooth is needed. If your other teeth are straight now, it's possible for your wisdom tooth to push against them until they are crooked. You don't want that. The other thing it could be is an abscessed tooth. An infection growing under the tooth, and under the skin that may not be visible. If this is what it is..your pain will get worse, MUCH worse as the infection grows. If this happens, you need to find a way to go to the dentist. You'll be given antibiotics to stop the infection and the pain. I've been there, it's awful. Good luck.
Reply:MICHELLE,

IF YOUR WISDOM TEETH ARE GROWING IN THESE ARE CLASSIC SIGNS OF TEETHING. EAT A SOFTER FOOD DIET AND DON'T CHEW ON HARD FOODS. IN TIME ALL WILL BE WELL.

I have a terrible tooth ache and the tooth must just be extracted but I'm 22 weeks pregnant and........?

I was just telling my mom that about it and she told me I can never have an extraction while pregnant is this true?? Today I woke up and my right ear [this is on the same side as the problem tooth] is half closed. Maybe the infection has is affecting my ear too?? Anyone knows anything about it??

I have a terrible tooth ache and the tooth must just be extracted but I'm 22 weeks pregnant and........?
I beg to differ. I had eight teeth pulled while 5 1/2 months pregnant. The nerves died in my teeth causing extreme pain. My daughter was born just fine. There was no way I could have stayed like that until she was born. You having an infection can be dangerous too.
Reply:Hope you are the baby are doing fine. Report It

Reply:I had my molars removed when pregnant with my first child. They numb you with novacain and that's it...
Reply:Watch the movie , 'cast away' and save some $$ it won't hurt the baby, just get your skates resharpened before next skating season.
Reply:See a dentist immediately. They will treat the infection, which will make a huge difference. They will also remove the tooth if absolutely necessary, but usually wait until after birth for that. The dentist will fit you in as this is an emergency.
Reply:HI you can have your tooth out if your dentist is a good one. They use different medicines now to help. You will be antibiotics before they extract. Go to the dentist and tell him to give you antibiotics, tell him you are pregnant so they can give you the right ones.

All the best.
Reply:I had a ton of dental work done while I was pregnant, the rule of thumb is that you just can't a freezing in the frist trimester. The second is fine, and as for the third my doctor said sure, but my dentist said no.
Reply:I didn't have teeth pulled while pregnant, but I did chip a tooth and had to have it filled. Two things my dentist did that you should see about:

1) if they take x-rays, have them use a shield that covers your neck as well as your chest/tummy

2) there is different pain/numbing medication that is safe to use while pregnant, although it wears off faster so you may need a second dose

As for your ear, you should tell your doctor about it and see what they say.

Hope this helps! Best wishes for the dentistry and the baby!
Reply:You can get your tooth extracted, especially in the second trimester. It is better to get it done, than for the infection to spread to the baby. And yes, the infection can be causing the ear problem.

From the American Pregnancy Association website:

Dental Work during Pregnancy Preventive dental cleanings and annual exams during pregnancy are not only safe, but are recommended. The rise in hormone levels during pregnancy causes the gums to swell, bleed, and trap food causing increased irritation to your gums. Preventive dental work is essential to avoid oral infections such as gum disease, which has been linked to preterm birth.

What about other regular dental work during pregnancy?

Dental work such as cavity fillings and crowns should be treated to reduce the chance of infection. If dental work is done during pregnancy, the second trimester is ideal. Once you reach the third trimester, it may be very difficult to lie on your back for an extended period of time.

The safest course of action is to postpone all unnecessary dental work until after the birth. However, sometimes emergency dental work such as a root canal or tooth extraction is necessary.

Elective treatments, such as teeth whitening and other cosmetic procedures, should be postponed until after the birth. It is best to avoid exposing the developing baby to any risks, even if they are minimal.

What about medications used in dental work during pregnancy?

Currently, there are conflicting studies about possible adverse effects on the developing baby from medications used during dental work. Lidocaine is the most commonly used drug for dental work. Lidocaine (Category B) does cross the placenta after administration.

If dental work is needed, the amount of anesthesia administered should be as little as possible, but still enough to make you comfortable. If you are experiencing pain, request additional numbing. When you are comfortable, the amount of stress on you and the baby is reduced. Also, the more comfortable you are, the easier it is for the anesthesia to work.

Dental work often requires antibiotics to prevent or treat infections. Antibiotics such as penicillin, amoxicillin, and clindamycin, which are labeled category B for safety in pregnancy, may be prescribed after your procedure.

What about x-rays used in dental work during pregnancy?

Routine x-rays, usually taken during annual exams, can usually be postponed until after the birth. X-rays are necessary to perform many dental procedures, especially emergencies. According to the American College of Radiology, no single diagnostic x-ray has a radiation dose significant enough to cause adverse effects in a developing embryo or fetus.

Fetal organ development occurs during the first trimester; it is best to avoid all potential risks at this time if possible. If non-emergency dental work is needed during the third trimester, it is usually postponed until after the birth. This is to avoid the risk of premature labor and prolonged time lying on your back.

Suggestions for addressing your dental needs during pregnancy:

The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends that pregnant women eat a balanced diet, brush their teeth thoroughly with an ADA-approved fluoride toothpaste twice a day, and floss daily

Have preventive exams and cleanings during your pregnancy

Let your dentist know you are pregnant

Postpone non-emergency dental work until the second trimester or until after delivery, if possible

Elective procedures should be postponed until after the delivery

Maintain healthy circulation by keeping your legs uncrossed while you sit in the dentist's chair

Take a pillow to help keep you and the baby more comfortable

Bring headphones and some favorite music
Reply:wonder if you have an abscess under your teeth?
Reply:Get the tooth extracted. the infection may affect your baby
Reply:I had a top wisdom tooth pulled out while i was pregnant no problems just some local anasthetic but it didnt really hurt.

I have a problem with my bottom wisdom tooth as it gets infected every 3-4 months as it has a flap of skin over it.

They wouldnt pull it out when i was pregnant as there is nerves around it and it needs proper surgery and anasthetics.

It really depends what tooth and where.

You want to avoid antibiotics for tooth infections but there is safe ones if neccessary.

I used safely advised by my dentist 1 drop of hydrodgen peroxide on my tooth/gum left it a minute and rinsed.3 times for 2 days

and stopped tooth infections that would normally be treated with antibiotics for over a week.
Reply:pls never have an extraction while your pregnant.

when i was pregnant, i sufferred for four months take note.. I SUFFRERRED for four gruelling months. Why? because you lose your strength.you feel weak if you have your tooth pulled out and that is why it is dangerous especially for conceiving women. and when i was having my labor, guess what? i still have my tooth ache..hehe

but i did not feel it anymore, because the pain of being a mother is the worst pain that a woman could have.

Pls bear with it for the meantime.

everything will pass.

I have a real bad tooth ache?

My tooth needs to be pulled I know this already I just never got it taken care of (stupid me) but now it is hurting sooooo bad.I know the answer is go to the dentist however I can't get there until Thursday or Friday. I have been taking Motrin 800mg which work well however I only have one left and already my tooth is starting to hurt again. Somebody told me to put a hot tea bag inbetween my cheeck and tooth but I am not sure if that is going to work. Does anybody have any other idea?

I have a real bad tooth ache?
Hi some suggestions for you!

*Gargle with hot salty mouthwash this is an antiseptic

*Use Clove oil this is an anaesthetic

*Take paracetamol and ibuprofen combined this works really well with toothache

*Eat on the other side and stay away from cold food or drink
Reply:call your dentist and get a stronger prescription of meds
Reply:How old are you? If you're over 21, my mom used to gargle with vodka, and she said that helped. It kills any bacteria that are in there and kinda numbs the pain. It'll probably burn at first. And don't swallow it afterwards, or you'll just be drunk.

I have a tooth ache!?

I have a wisdom tooth that came in and now my gums are growing up around it and on top of my tooth. I need to go to the dentist, but my insurance dosnt kick in for another month, what should I do? I cant afford to pay the dentist, they want almost 400 dollars up frount. Ouch! Who can afford that.

I have a tooth ache!?
If you can bare it....wait the month until your insurance kicks in.. try taking Tylenol for now. I know when I had my wisdom teeth in I took something call a pain-aid made by zee medical..they work like you wouldnt believe!!
Reply:Try to take an Aleve. If that doesn't work Jack Daniel will do the trick.

LC
Reply:ok
Reply:I cant afford that
Reply:aaawww....poor baby, i know it hurts. I know it's expensive. but you need to get that taken care of. It coulc develop into something worse and cost you more later. Put it on a credit card in the mean time. OUCH!
Reply:Soak your mouth in very salty warm water and try something like ambesol for the pain.
Reply:i know im only 11 but i have very bad teeth and orajel works for me ! when my baby teeth are gone i dont have any big teeth to grow in , i have had abscess on the same tooth 3 times and i think its back again!! well try orajel trust me it works!!!

Any remedies for a tooth ache?

I had silver fillings replaced with composite ones to match my teeth. I had it done to two teeth a couple of weeks ago...no pain. I went last week Thursday, and my tooth is still hurting me. It's a mild pain. Painkillers help but it's only temporary. Any advice?

Any remedies for a tooth ache?
Sounds like you have a nerve that is close to the fillings. I would consult further with your dentist as long-term topical or orally taken painkillers won't solve the actual problem.
Reply:what about like orajel or something?
Reply:Orajel works. And if that doesnt work there is clove oil...its ikcy but a friend of mine was told it works and he said it helped him a little bit

Having a tooth ache,a old saying that could be that i might be preg.?

there are no hole in tha tooth,i have not recieve my period yet.came on tha 8 of last month went off on tha 12 of last month.could i be perg?i did the test an it was neg.so whats to do now .

Having a tooth ache,a old saying that could be that i might be preg.?
wow i never heard that one before...but hey whatever works for you...well dont test so early girl wait at least 2 wks after your period...then test and if you still have doubts take a blood test :D

just relax start prenatal pills that way your body is ready for when you do get pregnant :D
Reply:I've never heard of a tooth ache being a symptom of pregnancy. Teeth hurt for various reasons but I doubt it's because you're carrying a baby.

If you were due on the 8th then you're only a day late. Give it a few more days and if you still do not have your period by then take a test. However, if you are not having any real pregnancy symptoms(cramps, fatigue, sore breasts, moodiness, etc.) then I would just chalk it up to your period being late.
Reply:I had a tooth ache early in my pregnancy with my daughter. I also just had a tooth ache with my last pregnancy. I didn't know that I was pregnant and ended up in the dentist's office 3 times for it. I was thinking that I needed a root canal. I then found out I was pregnant, but then miscarried at 9 weeks.

I do think it can be a symptom though. :)

Good Luck!

I think i have a tooth ache but im not sure, is it normal for a tooth ache to get worse at night?

my tooth started hurting a couple of days ago but the pain is at its peak, in the evening and at night, why does it get so much worse at night, when i wake up in the morning it hardly feels like anythings wrong, what could this be? im 19yrs old

I think i have a tooth ache but im not sure, is it normal for a tooth ache to get worse at night?
pain is pain. call your dentist.
Reply:It's probably a big cavity with decay that is approaching the pulp, which means that you could need a root canal if the cavity gets too deep. Spontaneous pain is not a good sign.
Reply:Yes it is normal for a tooth ache to worsen at night. It could be a minor cavity that has begun to reach the nerve. I would recommend a dentist asap to prevent further damage.
Reply:Mine does, usually i just lay down with some ice n take some alieve n it goes away after i fall asleep. You might wanna take some PM medicine to make sure you can sleep but be careful about how much medicine you take and what you mix. I feel like they get worst at night but the best thing you could do is go see your dentist.
Reply:yes you need to see a DDS, the reason your tooth is hurting at night is because your brain is at rest. During the day we are out doing things keeping busy so, at night when all is calm thats when the pain worsens...sensitivity to cold is not good, get it checked out, could be bad cavity, if it becomes sensitive to heat then you have real trouble...good luck
Reply:How can you be NOT sure you have a tooth ache?

When you have it, you ARE sure.

If it's sensitive to cold, you need to see a dentist.

As for pain stronger at night, yes, it happens and not only with teeth. I once had a doctor explained to me why it happens, but I forgot.

Anyway, do not try to cure any medical or dental problem on-line. See a dentist.
Reply:It hurts more at nite cuz you're not too busy . your mind is not as active.you are dwelling on it. see a dentist or take aspirin.
Reply:I don't know if it's normal or not--and I'm not lying or trying to scare you but you should go and see a dentist because a boy died from a tooth infection that spread to his brain. So I would get that checked out in a hurry.

Severe Tooth ache..!!!!!!!?

Hey guys, I have a missing tooth but the root is still there and become infected.. I cant get a dental appointment for 2 days so went to the doctor instead and got a course of anti biotics %26amp; 20 50mg Difene tablets...

I have taken 1 Difene 50mg, 2 (Soluable) Solphadene and 2 (Soluable) Disprin but my mouth is still KILLING me, I had to come home from work a few mins ago....

Why is this so sore? Is there any tips for relieving the pain..

Ps - Clove oil does nothing for it either....

Thanks......!!!!!!!!!

Severe Tooth ache..!!!!!!!?
An ice pack could be helpful but you need to find a dentist who will take you right away. call some dentists in your area. Many will take you in on an emergency basis. don't stop taking your antibiotics until they are all gone. Good luck
Reply:I had that a long time ago. Go see a dentist and he will give you a root canal.
Reply:Alchohol rubbed on and a hot water bottle both work together to numb the pain.

There is nothing worse than tooth ache i hope something works for you x
Reply:take a pinto bean and place it over the infected area for 30 minutes it draws up the infection or a potato is said to do the same thing as a bean also put a aspirin over the infection and let it dissolve on the tooth is a very helpful thing to do good luck
Reply:If this works I don't know but how about soaking a cotton ball in Listerine and putting it on the infection? A woman I work with told me to do that when I had a serious toothache. I just had the root removed after the tooth was already gone and it was simple. I stayed hopped up on Tylenol or ibuprofen and orajel. Mine was done by an oral surgeon though. Call one and ask them for relief advice. I feel for you, sorry.
Reply:GO TO THE DENTIST!!!

Help! Tooth Ache!?

I can not get into to see my denist until Wednesday, but my tooth is killing me. I know that is in infected. Any ideas on how to ease the pain?

Help! Tooth Ache!?
try warm olive oil on gums -or eastern method of rubbing inside of thumb by nail where acuputure nerve is- or get sozzled then you dont care - my preff is for latter-

Sleep will help the most if you can get any - the bodies defenses attack the absyss.

PS know how you feel and have great sympathy xxxx
Reply:If you have a cavity...try Clove Oil...on a little cotton wool packed in cavity....that should help.
Reply:Last summer I had 2 of my wisdom teeth, extracted I hurt like hell, then I was given a prescription for Moltrin Ibuprofen to help alleviate the pain.
Reply:Gargle with warm salt water every couple of hours. And use Anbesol on it. I used to use a little of vanilla extract on a problem tooth and you can also hold an aspirin on it until it dissolves..

Does a tooth ache & Ear Infection go hand in hand? read on....?

My 7 yr old woke up late last night and said her back tooth was hurting. I put Oragel on it and she went back to sleep. Now this morning she was crying saying her ear hurts on the same side.

I am trying to get her in the Doc today but they are not open yet.

She says her tooth doesn't hurt anymore.

Which is it.... infection in her mouth or ear. Should I call the Dentist too?

Does a tooth ache %26amp; Ear Infection go hand in hand? read on....?
Hm it could just be an ear infection perhaps while she was laying down the pain just radiated in that area.

Once you get in to the MD see what he says and then call the dentist if they think it is otherwise.

She should have a cleaning once or twice a year anyway.

But let the MD see first. They can help you further
Reply:A tooth ache will cause pain to radiate to the ear - which then we believe we have an ear ache - but it is the tooth.
Reply:I would call both. Start with the dentist. Have them check the tooth. If everything is okay then go to the Doctor. If everything is not okay then the dentist should be able to fix it. I have had that happen before where the pain seems to move to different parts of the face. Sometimes I'll get a headache if my tooth hurts.
Reply:Depending on whether it was an upper tooth or lower tooth it could even be a sinus problem. Sometimes sinuses can cause tooth pain. I would say take her to whichever one (doctor or dentist) can get her in first.

Reply:see your dentist, you might need a root canal.
Reply:Get the dentist to tell you what is happening.
Reply:u need to get it filled, or u will have to get it pulled.

Use sensitive toothpaste.

Your food is probably in the hole of the tooth that fills it.

When u dont eat...air gets in the hole, nerves start hurtin.

Use teabags for pain.
Reply:It might be that the a hole in the tooth gets filled with food and no air gets in so it stops hurting.
Reply:the hungrier you get, the more acidic your saliva gets...that could be one cause...

another cause with me...and this might sound gross, but i had a cavity that caused quite a bit of pain...when i ate something not sweet, the food would get lodged in there and prevent other stuff from getting in there...kind of forming a makeshift filling, but once it dissolved or came out, the tooth started to hurt again.

you should go to a dentist asap.
Reply:hmm, im a doctor based in leeds. uk! u need to email me for advise, I think its the link, the bond between two things, ure left tooth and the right.. I need to have a look..
Reply:i think its psychological...bcoz when u start munching you distract yourself and thats how u forget about pain.you better see your dentist before its too late.

Tooth ache!! it hurts!?

i hav ea tooth that is REALLY sensitive to cold and a liitle to hot! what is it and what should i do?

Tooth ache!! it hurts!?
Get some of that sensodyne toothpaste....no imitation get the original. If that doesn't help in two-three days, see dentist as you could have abcess tooth or bad cavity.
Reply:It could be a stress related. Have you been under MUCH pressure and stress ?? Then, it has nothing to do with your teeth gone bad. However, if it is a Teeth, I would use a warm water for brushing, and drinking, etc. Take Tylonol or ibuprofen. Then Wait for the dentist appointment.

Tooth ache + pressure ??

My wisdom tooth has a crack in it, a very big hole, lately i have been feeling pressure in my head , having sinus pressure, bloody nose, sometimes its hard to swallow, do i have an infection, can it spread, how serious should i take this?

Tooth ache + pressure ??
sounds like infection if not the start of one ~ best to get the tooth taken care of ASAP ~ either capped or removed which ever your dentist thinks would suit you %26amp; your tooth best. Yes this can be very serious infection from your tooth can spred into your sinus cavities %26amp; even into your brain. The sooner you get this taken care of the better
Reply:Our wisdom teeth has been shown to be linked to nerves in our heads. Which is why we need to have a x-ray taken before we remove them. The symptoms you are experiencing tells me you ought to go visit a dentist. I would say removing the wisdom tooth should do the trick. You might also need to tell your dentist the symptoms you have been experiencing, he/she might be in a better position to advise you too.
Reply:get it taken care of ASAP..the infection i have in my tooth now came from a root canal..an it causes so many other problems..it started up my migraines an it's just not worth ignoring..go to the dentist..he'll give you antibiotics if it is infected and after that..get the bastard pulled..dont let them give you a root canal because you'll pay for it a few years down the rode, like me..get it taken care of as soon as you can..trust me..

Tooth ache or sinus problem?
sounds like it is a sinus infetion. Check out the doctors office. This could be something serious.
Reply:You could be exactly right in thinking you might have a sinus issue. Because the sinus wall is sometimes very thin and the root tips of the Upper teeth can be very close to the sinus wall, it's not unheard of for a sinus condition to put so much pressure on the sinus wall that it in turn places pressure on the upper back teeth nerves and in some cases on the major nerve trunk that that exits near the ear and supplies the side of the face and jaw. You might want to begin with seeing an ENT, ear, nose and throat doctor for preliminary diagnosis.
Reply:Schedule an appointment with your MD.. they'll probably confirm that you have a sinus infection and put you on some antibiotics..........

Tooth ache looking for a natural remedy.?

Dose anyone know a natural way to cure an infection in the tooth?

Tooth ache looking for a natural remedy.?
cloves in any form (i have never used clove oil). Mix ground cloves with water and made a paste, then put a big glob of this on the tooth in question. Keep it there as long as you can, it will start to numb in a minute or two. A few things to keep in mind 1. Keep the straight cloves off your tongue they are spicy 2. This will make you salivate a lot 3. They will numb any part of your mouth they touch, including your tongue.

If you have whole cloves put one in your moth and gently chew it, that will soften it, then put it next to the affected tooth.
Reply:No and if you let it go, you could wind up losing the tooth. Better to go to the dentist and keep the tooth.
Reply:not a tooth infection, but natural clove oil will help with the pain...if your tooth is infected you need to go see a dentist ASAP
Reply:Cloves, you can find this in your grocers spice isle you coul chew it or rub the powder on the site
Reply:Clove oil or paste will numb the pain...but you should really get to the dentist ASAP!

Tooth ache Help Please?

Hey

I went to the dentist For a bad tooth. they would not pull it be cause it was abcessed so they gave me some amoxiicillin %26amp; some Hydrocodone. they tell me the will be gone in 24 hrs. well it still hurts like crazy I can't sleep I'm so tired right now. Anyone got any i deas.

Tooth ache Help Please?
There is a possibility the dentist has left some of the root in the area. Also, there may be nerves that are sending a message that you may have some abcess in the bone.
Reply:If there is a hole in your tooth then you can put half a Disprin tablet in your tooth. That helps. If it doesnt go to another dentist and get a second or even a third opinion.Hope you get wel soon
Reply:Get some vodka or rum or whiskey and swirl it around your mouth etc into that tooth etc to numb it and then maybe take a few swigs off the alcohol just to put you out for sleep, thats the best advice I have. good luck.
Reply:Put a wet rag in the microwave to get it nice and hot. Put it on your face where the pain is (dont burn yourself). The heat will do wonders. Also rinse (dont gargle) with hot salt water for relief.Take your painpills so they overlap. IT will be harder to stop the pain if you forget any pill.
Reply:Ooh If the Hydrocodone isn't helping there sure isn't anyone going to help you here for ideas to relieve pain. Call your Dr ASAP when they open and let them know you need something stronger. Unfortunately with an abscessed tooth you cannot get it pulled until healed no matter how many dentist you go to for another opinion.
Reply:Filling the hole with little table-salt gives me immediate and temporary relief. As a next step i wud go for some pain-killer like Imol or Brufen. Don't sleep by the side u tooth is affected.Don't keep it warm by keeping ur hands there.
Reply:go back and see them...you won't get any painkillers here
Reply:try using an ice pack it will hell take the edge off
Reply:toothpaste on the tooth numbs the pain. it worked for me
Reply:I had an abcess and was given an antibiotic. Because RX pain meds make me throw up, they gave me Ibuprofen 800 mg, 3 times a day. It took 4 days of those before the horrible pain was gone, and then several days of 2 times a day to keep it from coming back. By that time, my root canal appointment was upon me and now I have no pain at all.

My dentist told me that neither cold nor heat would help the pain.
Reply:Mix some peroxide and Listerine together in a cup and rinse your mouth on the side where the troublesome tooth is. That used to work for me before my tooth got pulled.
Reply:i went thru the same exact thang i kno how u feel i would jus stay taking to hydo.pills and lay down and rest u had better medicine than me i had a absess and didnt get to the dentisit and only was taking tylenol so be thankful
Reply:you can go to the ER. That happened to a friend of mine. If it gets unbearable or even close you really should go.
Reply:A good stiff drink if your over 21. Also you may try the couple of over the counter things like ambosol or mouthaid to help numb it.
Reply:It might take few days, the 24 hrs is bull, it depends per case.

Some people might not take enough anti bio. per say 800mg

would be ideal, 850, 600, etc not 200mg. not even kids take

that little.

I have found that not messing with the area and keeping it clean, use mouth wash every 4 hours and after every time you eat, brush your teeth, soft brush.

Do not give in to your dentist to do extraction while you still have

the infection. I do not know why some even suggest extraction same day of the visit. That's insane, they need to prescribe pain killers and antibiotics to have it go away and after go in for root canal, extraction, implant or bridge.

Tooth-ache...what to do except go to the dentist?

Please, help me! I'm am so afraid of needles...especially the one that the dentist used everyday to numb the gums...oh, it creeps me..anyway...is there anything else besides go there and feel this sharp needle in my gums...i need advice...i have these ache for 2 years now...and I can't face the dentist or the dental office..trust me, i'm not kidding...is there any other alternatives...ways that can permanently remove this toothache, uh?

Tooth-ache...what to do except go to the dentist?
No. you need to go to the dentist. abscesses can pollute the rest of your body and research is showing a link between mild long term infections and heart disease. the first time you go to the dentist he or she will look in your mouth and do an exam, as well as take a x-ray. He or she may also do a percussion test(tap on your tooth gently) and a vitality test which is a low dose current what will register a tingling sensation in your tooth if the nerve inside is still alive. These should not be painful. ask your doctor for a sedative if you are having severe anxiety, but you will need someone to drive you back and forth if one is prescribed. no one really likes going to the dentist, but i try think of something that could be worse...you could have a pain in your butt and have to see a butt doctor..and that can't be any fun! I hope this helped and you feel a little more at ease.
Reply:yes, you can let your tooth rot in your head and possibly get a blood infection that might kill you,, I know what you mean about the dentist. It sucks but you have to go sooner or later, you might as well get it over with.. or you could pull them all out, that way they wouldnt bother you anymore LOL
Reply:Just go to the dentist for a check-up. They won't do anything. If they do something against you're will, sue them. haha
Reply:Premanently? No. You'll have to suck it up and go to the dentist. There's a temorporary solution though. Go to wolmart or somewhere and look for a gel that relieves toothaches. Sorry I can't remember that name.
Reply:Suck it up and deal with it or risk getting an abscess or infection in the tooth. My dentist suggests taking a Tylenol PM if you get anxious or ask your doc for an anti-anxiety pill for before the appointment. Your dentist should also be able to numb your gums before he inserts the needle. And honestly, once the first little stick is over, you can't feel the rest anyways.

Just do it and get it over with. The more you think about it, the worse it's going to get.

Help for tooth ache and swollen gums?

hi guys. I have a very big problem. My tooth at the upper part at the back really hurts. i saw a cavity in it. It ate half of my tooth. (waah!) i've been having pain for almost a week now. but today is different. Even when i just close my mouth and it touches my lower teeth, it instantly hurts. (like it's as if it's coming off but it doesn't) I can't even eat. I've taken several mefenamic acids but the pain won't wore off. i even tried warm salt gargle. What can i do to get rid of the pain (temporarily) so that i could go to the dentist and get it extracted? thank you in advance!!

Help for tooth ache and swollen gums?
Obviously you have dental caries affecting that tooth and the swollen gums result from infection/inflammation - a condition known as gingivitis.

You're correct in going to see your dentist and in the meantime an old-fashioned remedy that can help toothache is Oil of Cloves - ask your pharmacists for details.
Reply:Go to the Dentists Soon!!!
Reply:Ibuprofen it works well on upper teeth. And get to a dentist quickly.
Reply:Clove oil works nicely, although you may find you're constantly putting the stuff on. You're better off taking a pain-killer at night though - that oil is not going to cut it. You also get a clove oil that contains camphor - I find it works faster. And yeah - get to the DENTIST! - (But you know that already, right?)
Reply:Sounds like you maybe bitings on your cheek when you close, if you are taking meds. like Tylenol take ev. 8hrs. if you Waite on it to hurt %26amp; then take the med. then you are chaseing to pain. Keep it under control even if you have to wake up in the middle of the night.
Reply:toothache and swollen gums are warning signs of gum disease. better get yourself to the dentist for utmost treatment and care. do not neglect gum disease for this can negatively affect the oral and overall health putting you at risk for health diseases. keep the mouth hydrated at all times by drinking a lot of water and having an all natural oral care product that can help fight away the cause of bad breath. visit http://www.themouthdoctor.com for more gum care tips.
Reply:If you haven't gone to the ER yet, go. There should be a dentist on-call than will be able to help you... Don't wait any longer; it sounds like you have an abscess and you shouldn't wait any longer to have it taken care of.

If the tooth is too 'hot', you will be put on antibiotics and pain meds until it calms down enough to be extracted.

Best of luck.

Horrible tooth ache?

So in June I got a filling, and my dentist said that I didn't need the shot because it was on the line of being shallow and not being shallow. So I didn't take the shot. She said while doing my tooth if I feel something cold like an icecream tell her. Well I felt that but I took it and didn't say anything.

Anyways, it's been six months now and the tooth next to where I got the filling is killer. Everytime I bite into something cold I almost burst into tears and I'm having an appointment soon. I feel horrible, I'm only 16 I can't live with this tooth like this any longer. What do you think it is?

Horrible tooth ache?
You probably have a cavity on the second tooth now. The only way to tell is to go to the dentist and have an x-ray taken. And please don't listen to all of the stupid people that tell you you need to have the tooth pulled. People on Y!Answers are jerks!!
Reply:pain :( maybe ull have to get this one filled too.. or remove one
Reply:I think it'll be fine. Wait and see what the dentist says when you go --but this time tell the truth though if she asks you to tell her when you feel something and you feel it. . .
Reply:Yeah its funny... Toothaches are contagious within the mouth, so they can spread.. You have to get it taken out..
Reply:Get some aspirin and a cotton ball and put the aspirin on the tooth and then cover it with the cotton ball. This should help the pain. The dentist will be able to tell you what is going on with the tooth it sounds like a raw nerve that needs to be covered!
Reply:whatever you do, please DO NOT place an aspirin on your tooth. Aspirin is salicylic acid and you will burn the tissues of your gum and teeth. You have what is called reversible pulpitis, you should schedule an emergency appointment with your dentist and ask if you can have a temporary filling placed to soothe the pulp (nerve). Try to avoid cold drinks, ice cream etc.

Painful tooth ache after 1st part of root canal and filling.?

I recently got the first part of the root canal procedure where he drilled down the tooth and picked at it a bit. Now after throbbing, sharp pain for about 2 hours, any pressure applied to my tooth hurts still. The pain has subsided except for when any pressure is applied to the tooth now that i have taken 4 motrin 200mg and 1 Vicodin. I dont know what to do please help.

Painful tooth ache after 1st part of root canal and filling.?
you could have got infection in there, or not all the root has been removed. you need to see dentist again to check it out.
Reply:It would appear that there is still infection present in this tooth. Sometimes it takes more than one appointment to clear an infection. You should contact the endodontist (or dds) on Monday. They either willl want to see you on that day or put you on antibiotics to help settle the tooth.

So sorry, I know these can HURT.
Reply:it is still infected. the ligaments a bruise so when its touch its painfull specially to biting or chewing but not on temperature. also the temporary filling might be off causing your bite to hit on that tooth first. well until the root canal is finish it will be still sore. go back to your dentist and have them check it. there's a reason why they prescribe you vicodin. until that antibiotic kicks in you will have discomfort.
Reply:I once had a root canal that took several weeks to complete because the infection would not go away. My dentist gave me 800mg of ibuprofen. I feel for you.

Another Tooth Ache Question...?

Okay, I know I've asked quite a few questions about toothaches the last couple days...but here is one more. I'm 5 weeks pregnant and was in the E.R. yesterday (O.B.'s orders) because my tooth was hurting so bad. It turns out I have a very bad infection due to a filling falling out. AND my wisdom tooth is trying to push that same infected tooth out of the way. So ya...pretty painful. The E.R. told me they can not prescribe me any PAIN medication because of the baby. So they gave me Antibiotics to help the infection. Meanwhile, I'm still in pain, Tylenol, Orajel or Ambesol do not work. I was to follow up with my dentist today, but, my dentist informed me they do NOT SEE PREGNANT WOMEN. So ya...i'm pretty screwed. Its the only dentist who accepts my insurance. I live in a very small town. Nobody even outside the town accepts it. I pretty much have to wait until the baby is born. Any ideas on other remedies I can use for pain to not go nuts during the next 8 months????

Another Tooth Ache Question...?
Motrin is really the best pain reliever to take since it's an anti-inflammatory. And it is safe to take the first 2 trimesters of pregnancy. (You can safely take 800 mg.) Just avoid it like the plague the last 3 months.

The good news is once the infection clears up, the pain will probably lessen too, so hang in there.

Geez, if we lived in Canada, they would just pull your tooth, and send you home..
Reply:you can ask your OBGYN they can give you Tylenol 3. You can take that. You could see a dentist. They could pull your teeth for you when you are pregnant. I had mine pulled. Hot salt water will take the pain away too. When you start taking the antibiotics the pain will start slowly going away.
Reply:DO NOT TAKE MOTRIN, ADVIL, or IBUPROFEN. I just went to the OB today and they gave me a list of medications safe to take during pregnancy. Only take TYLENOL regular strength.

Second of all, DO NOT WAIT 8 months to see a dentist. Yeah I know this guy only takes your insurance. GO SEE SOMEONE ELSE!!! Put it on the credit card, ask for a break, ask family or friends for a small loan. Some dentists offer Care Credit and Capital One which is a small credit approval for one year and usually no interest. Check out Care Credit online to see who takes it in your area.

8 MONTHS is ridiculous to have tooth pain!

Someone will see you!!!! AND YES YOU CAN SEE THE DENTIST while you are pregnant. Best time is in the 2nd trimester. But in emergency cases, you can be seen at any time during your pregnancy. This IS an emergency.

This is more of a benefit to you to be seen and get this treated than have an infection for 8 months. Imagine the stress on your body/baby!

What can cause my jaw ache/tooth ache.?

So long story short, I grew up poor, without dental and haven't been to the dentist since I was 12. I have however always brushed, flossed, and used mouth wash.

I am only 24, so it's not like I would have a lifetime of tooth decay but I do still have all my wisdom teeth.

Now my problem is that my entire bottom, left side teeth hurt. It doesnt hurt to eat or even press on any of my teeth, it feels like it's below my teeth in my jaw. It almost hurts sometimes when I talk too much. And it's more of a dull pain that sometimes gets sharp, but it's not for very long.

It first happened about a month ago, and it happened for about a week, it then went away and I was hoping it would stay gone but it just came back, and now I'm day 3 of the pain.

Does anyone know what it might be? I though maybe cavity, but would that be more localized?

I will eventually probably go to the dentist, i just would like a heads up.

What can cause my jaw ache/tooth ache.?
Sounds like an empacted molar. it hurts the whole side from the lower jaw upwards. but no detectable cavity.... see the dentist quick before you need an entire root canal.
Reply:Have your wisdom teeth grown in and straight, or do you think they may be bone impacted?

If they haven't grown in yet, then they are probably the latter, and you could be feeling the effects of them growing into your other molars and causing an infection.
Reply:Let me just say that your teeth are in trouble. Since you were 12? Not good. You miss all kinds of places, even if you're dilligent with your toothcare. I imagine that, in addition to having your wisdom teeth pulled if they're causing you pain, that you will have to have a number of things drilled.
Reply:I reccomend until seeing the dentist using toothache medication. You can get it at your local pharmacy, or even Kmart. The one that I have that works phonomenal is Orjel .. It is something to that affect but it works.
Reply:ok im no dentist, but it coud be your wisdom teeth or you could have an abssessed tooth. Try this site and research your symptoms: www.webmd.com
Reply:You should always visit your Dentist every six months for a checkup to see if anything is decaying. Unfortunally im not sure of what the problem is because there is not checkup involved here so I dont know what the area looks like but all i know is that it could be a cavity you could need a root canal, or maybe you have a toothache. Email me for more questions. I am a Dentist just in case. Ohh and chances are the longer you wait the worse it will get.

Reply:I WOULD STRONGLY ADVICE YOU TO SEE A DENTIST BECAUSE IT IS LIKE YOUR TEETH IS IN DEEP TROUBLE FROM THE QUESTION YOU ASKED.EVEN IF YOU ARE POOR, VISITING A DENTIST AT LEAST FOR A FREE COUNSELLING CAN AFFORD YOU SOME COST EFFECTIVE MEASURES ON HOW TO PREVENT TOOTH PROBLEMS BECAUSE, PREVENTION IS ALWAYS BETTER AND AT LEAST CHEAPER THAN CURE.GOOD LUCK

Tooth ache at back of mouth?

iam in total agony with a tooth at the back of my mouth could b my wisdom tooth its on my left right at the back and is causing my face to be slighty swollen................. suffer from a jaw which partially dislocates and have made an appointment but my dentist cant see to til til sep 10th.....im in agony shuld i demand an emergency app or wat any advice please..............

Tooth ache at back of mouth?
Certainly sounds like a wisdom tooth problem. I would call your dentist again and tell them how much pain you are in and if they could see you sooner. If they still say no can do ask to be put on list to be called if there is a cancellation. Ask what you can do for relief of pain. Call them everyday too that will probably help. Go to the office nd let them see how your hurting. Harder to say no to a person in pain straight to their face. Ask to see MD and yes, you'll wait.
Reply:Yes, demand an emergency appointment, because it sounds like you have a dental infection. I suffer from them, and if you don't get this treated right away your infection can spread, and if it goes to other bodily systems it can make you very sick, even become deadly if left unchecked long enough. Call your dentist and demand an emergency appointment, and if they won't take you, go to the emergency room or your regular doctor. I cannot stress enough how dangerous this can become. Call them back right away!
Reply:You need a new dentist. This is an emergency. If you are swollen, you have an infection. This can be very serious. Even though a wisdom tooth is not fully erupted, it can become infected and cause serious problems. You will be given an antibiotic for the infection. I would call another dentist, or even your dentist, and explain that you are swollen. They will then know you have an infection. You could also call an oral surgeon, as many general dentists don't "do" wisdom teeth, and refer to oral surgeons. Please get attention, soon, even an emergency room can get you some pain relief and something for the infection.

Good luck.
Reply:If you are in that much pain than eather make an emergency appointment or switch dentists. If you explained how much pain you were in they should have scheduled an emergency appointment asap. Good luck!!

Tooth Ache Help!?

My tooth has been hurting for the last few weeks. It's not only hypersensitive(which came from brushing to hard), but hurts when i chew. I'm 20 and take pretty good care of my teeth. I plan on visiting a dentist soon, but im wondering whats causing the pain in the first place. Has anyone else experienced this?

Tooth Ache Help!?
there could be many things that could be causing the pain.

i know somebody who seemed to experience what you are and he let it bother him for a few months. when he finally went to the dentist, he was told to get a root canal, which he did and now he doesnt experience the pains anymore.

only the dentist can tell you for sure what is causing the pain.
Reply:yank it out..
Reply:put brandy on it
Reply:just go to the dentist
Reply:I have been since I went to the dentist a month ago. It hurts so bad. It has gotten better though. You probably need a filling, that's what helped me! GO TO THE DENTIST WHENEVER YOU HAVE A CONCERN!
Reply:A cavity is the likely culprit. The dentist should be able to fix this pretty easily. Don't put it off any longer.
Reply:* to get rid of the pain take motril or something that eases your pain

* eat soft foods

* maybe get tooth pain medicine
Reply:To help your toothache, try putting some whiskey on it

;)
Reply:You're never had a cavity before!!!!! I hate you.
Reply:Clove oil:Is great to use for toothaches. Apply a little on the affected tooth for some time and then rinse with warm water. Boil 5 grams of fresh peppermint in 1 cup water with a little salt. And rinse mouth well with this .Peppermint is an antiseptic and contains menthol which relives pain .Try out http://useinfo-dentalcare.blogspot.com/ for more details.

Reply:You could have a low grade infection or the tooth could have some structural problems; but of course only the dentist can really tell what's going on. Since you're having this persisent pain I recommend that you see the dentist as soon as possible. Don't put it off. The sooner you get it taken care of the better things will be.
Reply:You are talking to right person.First get some clove oil dab on and around tooth ,keep tongue away as it burns a little but this is the stuff dentists use to numb.Everyday brusg gently with sensitive toothpaste it takes 3 weeks to reach its full protective level. Also put a blob on and around tooth and dont rinse ,just leave it.If you find pain immense at times then take an anti inflammatory tablet.Pain could be just from sensitivity,or a cracked tooth,or you clench your teeth at night and put pressure on them.If this is so buy a cheap soft mouthguard from a sports store for the night to protect teeth, has to be a soft one, mould it in hot water. Here in Australia it is called shock doctor Hope it helps.

Realy bad tooth ache?

I've been having a really bad toothache in this one back tooth on and off for a few months now. I got my braces on this summer, and that upset the tooth with them messing with it. So, I went to the dentist because I had a cavity on that tooth and they fixed that, but that just made the pain so much worse. I was getting a terrible toothache once a day for about a week that lasted about an hour. Since ibprofin didn't kick in fast enough, the only way to escape the pain was to fall asleep. But, it's not like I can just fall asleep in the middle of class. Now I only get about 1 toothache a week. I can barely even brush on that tooth. It seems like whenever I go to the dentist, they just make the pain worse while trying to fix it. What should I do?

Realy bad tooth ache?
First of all....Go to the dentist. In the meantime take some tylenol every 4 hours. That should help the pain.. I find the advil doesn't help a toothache. Also try Ambisl that numbs the tooth for a few hours. Good Luck.
Reply:go to a different dentist. that dentist may have not filled the cavity in correctly. Also make sure it's filled in with porcelain instead of the metal stuff since the metal makes the tooth more sensitive. If the dentist says you can't use porcelain then he/she doesn't know what they're talking about because it can be done; it just requires more work on their part.
Reply:theres no other remedy for that only a dentist let the dentist pull it so that no more pains will occur
Reply:When a deep cavity is filled it will often be sensitive for aome time. It does seem to be getting less frequent so that is a good sign. If it is sensitive to hot things then the nerve is inflamed, and it may need a root canal eventually.

Porcelain is not used to fill a tooth as someone else suggested, it is used for crowns to cover the tooth. A composite resin is another type of filling material, and sometimes patients have a reaction to that material with increased sensitivity.

Tooth-ache help?

you have developed a root infection

u need to consult for root canal treatment

al the best
Reply:u have to go the dentist, it needs to be filled. u can put some toothpaste on it to num the pain, but make sure u go to the dentist as soon as u can
Reply:You do need to see a dentist but until you go to the appointment you could use clove oil or real vanilla extract. Apply it directly to the tooth. You can get clove oil at the older pharmacies. Generally you can buy real vanilla extract at the local grocery stores. Hope this helps and good luck with the dentist.

Tooth ache now for 3 days?

ive recently been flossing which i havnt done as routinely before, and now have quite a swollen red gum at the top back of my mouth. Its aching quite alot and i can feel the ache on my face, about two months ago i had the same thing and it went after a week. There isnt a lump or anything like a absess, but im worried its the start of one, or have i just damaged my gum?.

I have a full course of antibiotics (amoxicillin) which i could start taking. Should i start taking them now, or wait?. Im 60 miles from my dentist as im working away from home, and cant really afford to go...

Tooth ache now for 3 days?
You could use the antibiotic. I am thinkiing you just iritated your gums. Try ibuprofen for the pain and inflammation. I hope it goes away for ya!
Reply:Take the antibiotics
Reply:definetly take the antibiotics. if there is an infection starting to brew, the antibiotics will take care of it. it does take 2-3 days for the antibiotics to kick in but once they do, continue taking them until they are all gone. try to go see your dentist as soon as you get home to see it is a tooth or maybe a gum infection. if it is a tooth problem, its important to find out if it can be fixed or if it needs to be removed. antibiotics are only a bandaid for the situation so make sure you get some attention to the problem, don't wait till it starts hurting again :-) good luck!
Reply:I can tell you to go look at this site to see if it will help you. This is at a price everyone can afford. You could save from 25%-80%. Go to www.everyonebenefits.com/kline you can also look up providers there to. I hope this works for you and I wish you the best.

Yellow Teeth

Hit in the mouth...is it normal for tooth to ache without needing special treatment?

I was attacked by a dog yesterday, who jumped at my mouth and hit me directly in my front tooth (ouch!) The tooth was numb at first, but does not seem to be loose and looks healthy, so I haven't contacted my dentist. It does still ache when I touch it. Is this normal following an impact like this? Will it subside without needing to see a dentist? Thanks!

Hit in the mouth...is it normal for tooth to ache without needing special treatment?
The ache is from the bruise. I would say that it will subside in a day or so. If it continues or gets worse after that, call and get it x-rayed to make sure you don't have a fractured root.
Reply:I would always recommend that you see the dentist. The pain that you feel may be from trauma to the root of your tooth and even if the pain goes away it does not mean that there is not still a problem. The root could die or there may be bleeding under your tissues that you can't see. If you choose to not see your dentist and the pain goes away, take an ice cube and touch it for a short time to your tooth, if you feel pain you know that the tooth is alive.
Reply:Give it a couple weeks, you probably traumatized the tissue (intrusion) around the tooth. It may be a little hot/cold sensitive and to chewing. It should resolve slowly if the tooth has no other problems. If it gets worse or gets very sensitive to temperature I'd see a dentist. Take it easy on it.
Reply:As long as the tooth is tight, it should be OK. BUT, watch for signs of infection. continuous pain, redness, swelling, There may be a small cut that you don't even see. If the pain continues or other s/s occur, call you dentist immediately. THE AREA MAY BE SENSITIVE FOR A FEW DAYS, BUT BEYOND THAT, YOU NEED TO SEE THE DENTIST.
Reply:It is normal for your tooth to be sore. You should see your dentist and have him take an xray of the tooth to make sure you have not done any damage to the root of the tooth. Sometimes when a tooth goes through trauma like that the nerve of the tooth will die so you would then need to have a root canal done. If the pain gets worse or your tooth starts to turn grey then you know that it is time to have a root canal done. Good Luck and I hope that your tooth starts to feel better soon.

Tooth Ache after Cleaning (sharp pain)?

Hi, I just went to the dentist and after they cleaned my teeth like a normal check up I came home and ate. Everytime I eat, I have a sharp pain on the left side of my mouth. They put in a temporary on my right side during the check-up as well because I was having problems with one of my other teeth (fake one). What do you think is wrong with my tooth (the one on the left ... that keeps getting these sharp pains)? I'm worried about a root canal or something...

Tooth Ache after Cleaning (sharp pain)?
Please call your dentist. If you had a tooth that needed a temporary, then it sounds like the tooth had a problem (even if it was small) before your cleaning. Your dentist should be able to take an x-ray of that particular tooth and determine if it needs a root canal or just a solid filling.
Reply:honestly that's what happened to me and i had to get a root canal. good thing root canal's don't hurt... no really, it didn't. maybe i had a good dentist but i heard all of these horror stories and mine went great. i felt perfect later that night. but i had a fake tooth worked on and a few weeks later, one near it started hurting horribly.. i ended up going back and he said it was my nerve so i had to have a root canal. good luck though!

Another Tooth Ache? Please Help!!!?

Oh boy. Here I go again. A year ago I went to the dentist to start a series of work. I had 2 root canals done and 1 crown. I am not having sensitivity in a tooth that I am suppose to get worked on in November. Here's the problem, the tooth that is bothering me now is between one that needs a crown and one that needs to be pulled. I have a wisdom coming in that will be pulled, so the tooth between that molar and another is sensitive. In the xrays we took (1 yr ago) it just needed a filling. I will of course need new xrays I am sure,... anyway, the tooth is now sensitive to cold and when I get the blood pumping I have a slight throb. I am now worried to death I will need yet another root canal. Is it certain that because it is slightly throbbing and it is sensitive to cold that it needs a root canal? I am also concerned that the wisdom, growing in may have cracked that tooth a little. The wisdom is coming in streight but there isn't alot of room for it. Any dentists or RDA's? Help!

Another Tooth Ache? Please Help!!!?
Spontaneous throbbing will need root canal. Cold sensitivity and then throbs and throbbing stops almost immediately, might just need a filling. Wisdom teeth rarely crack teeth, but can cause a cavity if pushing up against a tooth.

Tooth Ache/Braces?
Well you might have a cavity or something which is causing your toothache so you need to go to the dentist to get that checked out.

As for braces - well the dentist can't force you to get them. He can advise that you get them, but at the end of the day it's YOUR decision, and if you don't want them then just tell him that.
Reply:go to the dentist. but you need braces. i think crooked teeth look trashy and gross. but if you wanna look that way then.....
Reply:You need to go to the dentist. You may need braces, but I had them for eight years, and I'm okay. Your teeth may be growing wrong which is why you have toothaches. Take advil or tylenol for the toothache.
Reply:why would you be afraid of braces they make your teeth look pretty. and even if you need them you dont have to get them.
Reply:I doubt that your teeth will fall out, so just get braces to get your teeth straightened cause it's better and it'll get rid of the toothache because you might just have a cavity and you can have that filled.
Reply:go to the dentist if he says you need braces take it or leave it. he cant make you get braces he can suggest it but its your choice he cant force you
Reply:U should go to the dentist!
Reply:see the dentist , they are with you not against you.
Reply:Don't be scared, look, all they will do iz they will take the crooked tooth out and get braces, the braces will not hurt, trust me, don't be scared. At the begginig they will hurt, because they will adjust to your mouth, but then the pain will go away,

I don't think you need any medication,

all they'll do iz give you some ointment to put on the end of the braces in the back. There's nothing to be scared of...!
Reply:dont worry about the dentist. Im getting braces soon too.....I know you probably have a good reason to be scared of the dentist....it can be frightful and scary......but you need it. Braces? Dont worry about a thing....yes, it may hurt, but they will not make your teeth fall out! Your toothache may be becasue of that.......so, i would just get the braces. Dont worry about a thing.

Strange tooth Ache?

I have been experiecning strange things with the second tooth from the back on the bottom row, it started wit a small whole a while back say sometime last yr! Now on Tues IT BEGAN TO THROB really bad, and if I chewed on that side it felt like freddy cruger was tring to claw out that tooth, then it mellowed up until last night i woke up and it was well it felt swollen like the tooth was being moved or pushed and now if I press it agains my tounge it shifts just a little bit,but if i try to eat something and another tooth on the left side hits that one it hurts and when i close my mouth it seems that the left side is closed but the right side has a slight opening basiacally the teeth dont sit on top of each other in a perfect mold as they once did is there any doctor or dentist that could give more advice if we talked about it, now the pain is next to nothing but the tooth still feels like it has moved or is out of place whats going on ?

Strange tooth Ache?
It's infected and you need to get it taken care of very soon,
Reply:probably an abscess and the nerve is now damaged.....go to the dentist...you could lose the tooth...why have you waited so long?
Reply:You have described just perfectly the symptoms of an abscessed tooth. Get to your dentist!

What will get rid of the tooth ache?

For several days now, one of my teeth is hurting. The pain will come and go, but the pain is kinda intense. Is there any way of getting rid of the aching?

What will get rid of the tooth ache?
Tylenol will help a bit. Try putting Oil of Cloves right on the area that hurts. This will reduce the pain too. There are some over-the-counter toothache gels that you might try too. They are usually next to the floss and toothpastes.

As you already know, a toothache means that the nerve is being irritated in some way. You either have a cavity or an infection. Eventually the pain will go away without seeing a dentist but by then the nerve and the tooth will have died. It's better to get it treated in the early stages. BElieve me I know, I've done it the other way and now I'm in for some horrendous dental bills to fix things I let go too long
Reply:If it's swollen, take some Ibuprofen. If it's just pain then take Tylenol extra strength. If it doesn't get better in a week, you may have an infection. Go see a dentist asap.
Reply:If it is the tooth itself then cavity that may even need root canal. But if it is the gums then floss and brush better and it will go away.

Either way go see a dentist if it lasts more than a few more days.
Reply:First you should go to a doctor who will prescribe an antibiotic so the infection that you probably have will stop, or for an instant pain relieve, crush an aspirin and put it over the hurting teeth or a clove like the ones you use to cook. That will work but only temporary, go see a doctor.
Reply:yes.... See your dentist.
Reply:Sea salt.
Reply:Ibprofen, then see a dentist the next day or so.
Reply:take a set of pliers and pull all your teeth out...then it will just be a mouth ache... :)
Reply:750-1000 mg of ibuprofen for a toothache
Reply:Ambesol %26amp; tylonol then go to the dentist
Reply:TEQUILLA!!!!! naw ... go see the dentist he can tell you whats up with your chompers...
Reply:Percogesic you can get them at the drug store it will stop a tooth ache ...It is a pill and it works supper fast don't suffer go get you some about 6.00....Really good in the old days the Dentist would write you a prescription for them they are great .....
Reply:Honey i have tons of teeth issuse. Clove oil is the best thing out there. I promise. It's may taste horrible but you will sleep at night.
Reply:Yeah. See your dentist.
Reply:Go see your dentist, if the pain is off and on then one day you will wake up swollen if u don't have swelling now. Take something for pain in the meantime-over the counter. The pain will go away after u see your dentist. Don't wait too long.

How long after getting a dental crown should the tooth ache? (it's constant now)?

The tooth has a large filling, and after two months it started being sensitive to cold and aching when pressure was applied to it. My dentist recommended a crown. This was done last week, and now the pain is constant. Will this get better when they mount the permanent crown, and what are my chances of needing a root canal?

How long after getting a dental crown should the tooth ache? (it's constant now)?
This is a question that arises frequently and there is no cut and dried answer.

Sometimes the trauma to the tooth from preparing the tooth for a crown can cause the pulp to become inflammed a bit. Other times the need for the restoration or crown in the first place is the reason the pulp is irritated. The tooth becomes sensitive and can hurt a bit when you tap it or bite on it. If this goes away, then tooth is recovering. If it does not, then you will need a root canal (the pulp got pushed over the edge!)

The transition from cold sensitivity to constant pain is a bad sign. Chances are you are going to need a root canal.

You can visit your dentist - maybe he can work on the temporary crown so you don't bite on it when you close your teeth together (if he/she hasn't already) - this can help the pulp heal.

If your tooth doesn't start feeling better you should not get the final crown just yet (because if the tooth acts up more after you cement the final crown they have to either cut the crown off or cut a hole in it to do the root canal (which ruins the crown). So ... you want this problem resolved before you get the final crown.

Also, if the pain goes away the dentist should do a cold test on the tooth (with cold water or a cold piece of cotton) before cementing the crown. If there is no response to cold at this point it means the nerve is dead and should be removed (as it is necrotic tissue that is a source of infection). If there is a brief amount of sensitivity to cold but it goes away, then this is a sign the pulp recovered and the final crown could be cemented.

Hopefully you don't need the root canal. If you do, though, get it done before the final crown is cemented. Hope this helps.
Reply:it sounds like you need a root canal,,, while mild discomfit is normal when a temporary crown is placed, it shouldnt hurt that bad! it sounds like you have an infection in the root
Reply:If you have a throbbing pain, or swelling it has moved to the nerve and you will need a root canal. Check your bite too. If your new crown is high ( you are hitting it first) It will continue to aggravate the tooth. Also if you still have your temporary crown on, the margins may not be perfect and you may have some root exposer. Temporary crowns are made chair side and tend to have this problem. once you have your real crown on this problem should go away. brush you teeth with warm water and try a tooth paste for sensitive teeth.
Reply:maybe there's something wrong wth the way your dentist did with the procedure. try the permanent first. if it still hurts after a couple of days, visit your dentist again.maybe you need a root canal.
Reply:The Dentist should have checked the vitality of the tooth. The tooth is probably sensitive because of the amount of filling material in it. If the tooth needs a root canal it would be best to do it prior to having the crown placed. They can do a root canal through the crown but then you will have a small hole in the crown. The Dentist will tell you that it will be filled but no matter what you have now broken the seal and bacteria can get in. The pain should be better once they place the crown. If not then you may need a root canal. I think that the Dentist should have first looked into doing the root canal, then placing a crown over that. You should ask him why they are choosing not to do root canal first.
Reply:The symptoms you described are classic of a tooth that is on the verge of abscessing. It very well may be doing just that. Your dentist may have suspected a weak cusp, crack or fracture, or sensitivity due to the large filling, and that was the reason for the crown. It's really hard to say with out an exam. It could be that the temp isn't fitting correctly at the margins, allowing leaking that is causing sensitivity. Or your bite is off on the temp and you've been hitting it so long the tooth has become hypersensitive. Since you are in pain constantly, I would call the doctor. He will probably phone in an antibiotic and pain med for you to get started on tonight. If it's an abscess, it will take a couple of days for the antibiotic to start working giving you some relief. I am sure the doctor won't seat the crown until the tooth is sound. He doesn't want to drill a hole into a perfectly good crown to do a root canal unless he has too. Also it's easier to get to the canals without the crown covering it. At any rate the doctor will be the one to diagnosis the problem with a simple x ray and an exam. For now you can start taking Advil or Motrin at 600mg to help ease the pain and inflamation. But call tonight and leave a message, the doctor is always available to take care of his patients in an emergency. I hope I've been of some help to you in this situation. Good luck.

What should I do if I have a tooth ache or a gum ache?

My tooth or my gums be aching at nighttime when I'm sleep and it hurts alot

What should I do if I have a tooth ache or a gum ache?
Of course the best thing to do is see your dentist about the problem. For temporary relief of the pain take 800 mg of Ibuprofen which is prescription strength. It has an anti-inflammatory in it so it is going to work better than Tylenol or aspirin. If your gums are sore, you can rinse several times a day with warm salt water. Use 1 teaspoon of salt to 8 ounces of water.
Reply:brush and floss more - long term

for now, hit your shin real hard with a hammer

your toothache will go away
Reply:Are you just avoiding the obvious answer--see your dentist?
Reply:Gargle regulary, floss, brush and see a dentist
Reply:You might want to see a dentist, if it keeps hurting, it could be a bad cavity.

But while you are waiting for your appointment, some pharmacys have clove oil, that can take away the pain for a little while. Anyone can buy it, sometimes it's on the shelf, but sometimes they keep it behind the counter.

I never used it, I know people who did use it, and it seemed to work really well.

But you still should see a dentist.

Why do people say they have a tooth ache when their teeth can't feel?

shouldn't they say gum ache seeing how your gums hurt from being irritated by your teeth?

Why do people say they have a tooth ache when their teeth can't feel?
No, the gums aren't part of the nerve. And actually your teeth can feel. The outer enamel can't, but the next layer, the dentine, can. That's why when people have real bad tooth decay they feel pain when they eat or drink something hot or cold, the dentine is very sensitive to temperature and air. The nerve is also a cause for tooth aches, not gums aches.

Teeth do not irritate gums, plaque and calculus irritate the gums.

So toothaches and gums are two completely different things.
Reply:i think they usually mean its the root of the tooth, the nerve endings there can feel pain im pretty sure.
Reply:There are nerves inside the teeth. Nerves are what cause the sensation of pain
Reply:The same reason you say you have a headache when there are no nerves in your brain.
Reply:the nerves triggers the ache feeling not the tooth
Reply:Your teeth have nerve endings inside them. That's why something too cold can hurt your teeth and why cavities cause pain.
Reply:The roots, nerves run through the tooth. This is why you do get a real toothache. This is why the tooth needs to be numbed before a dentist puts in a filling. If the tooth didn't "feel", it wouldn't have to be numbed.
Reply:Yes, your teeth cannot feel. But when one of them is decayed, it gives you pain. You will blame the tooth, not your gum. And that’s why. Moreover, ache in the gum is not necessarily caused by your teeth.
Reply:Each tooth has a nerve inside it!!! So people who say they have a tooth ache are correct!!!
Reply:thats right it should be a gum ache
Reply:You have nerves running thru the roots of your teeth as well as your gums. You can have either gum pain, tooth pain, or both. The only part that does not have nerves is the actual bone your teeth sit in.

What could be the cause of a tooth ache that throbs 1 week pre-menstrually?

I have a tooth on the bottom that only aches (it throbs) one week pre-menstrually.

It has been just a touch grey for years (but hardly noticeable) and doesn't feel cold sensations but the dentist said the tooth is more or less healthy.

My dentist has never heard of this, so I am looking for ideas, especially from someone in the dental field or someone who has had it happen to them.

Thanks.

What could be the cause of a tooth ache that throbs 1 week pre-menstrually?
If your dentist is not familiar with this you should find another dentist. Perhaps a woman dentist would be able to answer your questions. I have discovered that male medical practitioners are frequently unable to discover underlying problems in female symptoms.
Reply:I think you lost one root, maybe not two, thai is probably you have some sensation, the darknes its maybe because of the root that might be dead. Do a root canal, but first change your dentist.

You pain during your pre-menstrual cycle is because we retain water those days, and it makes the teeth thighter to your gums.
Reply:THE TOOTH IS NON VITAL, YOU NEED A ROOT CANAL ON IT

What could cause tooth ache, ear ache, and tingling on the side of my head?

I still have my wisdom teeth, and twice now I've gotten tenderness right on the gum behind one of them. On that same side, I'd get an ear ache, and where my hair is above my ear, a tingling sensation, like when your foot falls alseep. Any ideas as to what that could be?

What could cause tooth ache, ear ache, and tingling on the side of my head?
possibly an infection
Reply:That's how my sinus infections start out. I found that 2 Tylenol and a benadryl really help with the toothache and ear ache.
Reply:I suspect that your sinuses are either blocked or maybe infected. First try an over the counter sinus medication like Tylenol for Sinuses and see if you get some relief. If not, you might have an infection and need an antibiotic which you will need to get from a doctor. It could be wisdom teeth, but that is doubtful. Good luck.
Reply:It could be a sinus infection. If you are having facial pain: just to the side of your nose where the maxillary bone is, tooth pain, lots of drainage from the nose, it may be sinus related. Tooth pain can also occur.

-Also, if you are having problems with the tooth (remaining wisdom tooth) it may be impacting into a nerve, which runs along the side of our face and branches out like a tree: (the facial nerve).

-there is also the possibility of an ear infection.

--as you can see there are some more likely possibilities--which are above.

Sinus probs more than 1 month- i prescribe my pts an antibiotic.

However, if this is dental--go see your dentist

--It may be wiser to go see your physician first and he/she will direct you further
