5 weeks pregnant & severe tooth ache???

I'm 5 weeks pregnant and woke up today with the most severe tooth ache I have EVER had in my entire life! I was in tears and my 3 year old keeps kissing my cheek to fix my "booboo". I took a Tylenol which seems to be easing the pain slightly. Ambesol is also working to help numb it a little. Orajel did NOTHING. I want to call my dentist and make an appointment but I'm scared about the harm it can do to my baby...What can I have done? Its due to a lost filling. But my doctor had to cancel my original appt due to an emergency with him. So I wasn't able to get it fixed. I'm scared it will now need a root canal or maybe even need to be pulled! Its way in the back of my mouth. What will this do to my unborn baby?? What else can I do?? It hurts so bad! I would like to wait until after the baby is born, but there is NO WAY i can go that long!

5 weeks pregnant %26amp; severe tooth ache???
You must be joking! Your doctor / dentist has more medical training than anyone here and will certainly not jeopardize the health or well being of your unborn child. If it hurts that bad, go to the ER. Above all, SEE A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL!

Why would you seek advice from random strangers when your health and the health of your unborn child is on the line?
Reply:go to the denist its ok,

pregnant people go all the time
Reply:i dont think it has to do with pregnancy... go to the dentist. put ice on. w/e
Reply:I doubt anything will happen to your babby. Get the tooth drilled or pulled or whatever. Theres a lot more stuff that would affect your babby more then tooth problems.
Reply:call your dentist and tell them the problem with your tooth and make sure they know that you are pregnant. They will tell what is OK and what isn't.
Reply:GO to the dentist! I've had lots of tooth problems and there is NO worse pain. Just tell the dentist that you're pregnant and they will take precautions. If its a filling that's come out, it's pretty simple to fix. My daughter in law had to have a tooth pulled when she was 8 months pregnant and there was no harm to her baby. I understand your concerns, but if you let it go and it gets infected, then THAT is what could harm the baby......the infection could go directly into your system and not only is that poison to you, but it's poison to your baby. Please call and get in and have this taken care of before it does become a problem.
Reply:No sweetie that's too long.....Maybe they can just put a temp filling so it doesn't get infected. I don't know what the whole deal with the dentist/pregnancy thing has to do with one another. But I know it's a "no no" but I'm sure in today's day and age they can do something for you. I wish you the best and Happy pregnancy!
Reply:a dentist can best help you....there are medicines for pregrant women that cant harm babies...your baby is taking calcium from you that's why ur experiencing toothache.....better go to the dentist now before it gets worse.
Reply:You will be just fine.

See your dentist as soon as possible. Pregnant women are treated in dental offices all the time

Nothing should hurt your baby in the dental office.

An infection in your body (tooth) could affect your health.

Get treatment NOW.
Reply:Hi!

Pregnant women can only take acetaminophen (like Tylenol) so don't try any other pain killer. You must visit your dentist asap. If you need a root canal he/she can clean the cavity and partially remove the nerve. Your baby is going to be okay. After your baby's born then the root canal can be completed. You said you lost a filling so there must be a cavity in your molar. Fill it with smashed Clove. It's a natural pain killer. Make an appointment and GO to the dentist. Pregnant women should always go to the dentist. Remember that due to hormones your gums might get swollen so having a perfect hygiene during these months is a most. Good luck!
Reply:Go to the dentist, even if you have to get an antibiotic or another filling both are safe with a baby, just make sure they give you an baby safe antibiotic, and if there is work needed done i am sure another filling will have no adverse effects on a fetus!
