My husband has a tooth ache ..........?

My hubby has a tooth ache and we think its related to his sinuses. I used to work for a dentist and know that this will cause toothaches if you have a sinus infect/blockage. Does anyone know how to "drain" your sinuses or relieve them without taking a lot of medicine that makes you sleep/dizzy??? THANKS

well, they are best to use at home, but try those breathe right strips that go across the bridge of your nose. Applied correctly they really aid well in the opening of the passage ways, causes some pretty heavy drainage though. Prepare him for a pretty productive coughing spell ;)

also, although vapo rubs do help, they are best used within a very humid enviroment. Those humidifiers can really help, as well as vapo rub applied below the nose then hopping in a hot steamy shower for a while, or even a nice hot bath.

applied pressure with his finger tips on the sinus (if his sinus are swollen they will be easy to find ) adjacent to the nose about an inch and a half below the eyes. move tips of fingers in a downward and outward motion, using as firm of pressure as he can stand. This can really help things to start moving.

GOOD LUCK
Reply:you are quite welcome :) glad your hubby feels better Report It

Reply:Rub some vapor rub around his nose and have him stick his head (covered with a towel) over a boiling bowl of water.
Reply:he really should see a doctor
Reply:As the first person suggested, steam inhalation is good. You have to do it for at least 10 minutes really to be of much benefit.

You can also try gently massaging over the bone just ABOVE the inner corner of the eye on either side of the nose, which helps drain the frontal sinuses. Tipping your head forward and massaging the bone either side of your nose just BELOW the inner corner of the eye helps drain the maxillary sinuses, which are the most likely to be causing problems with tooth pain.

However, if it is only one tooth which is causing your husband pain, it's relatively unlikely to be sinus related - sinusitis tends to cause aching of all the teeth in the upper jaw, at least all the molars. If none of the above makes any difference, he should probably see a dentist.
