Can an ear infection lead to deafness or a tooth ache?

i am slitelyhave deafness in my right ear and bloth ears are infected and i have been to a clinic and they gave me pills. i also have a tooth ache on my right side and i read that ear infections can cause that. what do u think can happen to me?

well yea i was born hearing and then about 6 month later i had a ear infection and sickness so i became deaf but im severly modrate deaf so that means im not really deaf im close to hard of hearing but yes ear infection can lead to deafness

Reply:Left untreated ear infections definately can cause hearing loss and yes tooth problems too. I would consider having them check for a sinus infection too though as this can cause toothaces.


Also see your dentist to be sure you don't have a dental problem too.

get rid of infections as early as possible

Reply:I always heard that a toothache can cause and ear infection. I would go and see a specialist about your ear.
Reply:If the ear infection gets too bad, it can preforate your eardrum, and you won't be able to hear out of that ear. I don't know about ear infections giving you a toothache, but a sinus infection sure can - maybe your infection has spread.





If it's been a couple of days since you started taking the pills, and you're not feeling better, then you need to get yourself back to the doctor.

If it goes untreated it could cause permanent hearing loss form the damage of not being treated properly. Yes, an ear infection can cause a bit of a tooth ache. Still go back to the doctor, he may need to change your prescription or give you an additional one.

Your hearing may be dulled temporarily due to fluid in the middle ear. Decongestants like Sudafed can help with that, but don't overuse them
