Does a tooth ache & Ear Infection go hand in hand? read on....?

My 7 yr old woke up late last night and said her back tooth was hurting. I put Oragel on it and she went back to sleep. Now this morning she was crying saying her ear hurts on the same side.

I am trying to get her in the Doc today but they are not open yet.

She says her tooth doesn't hurt anymore.

Which is it.... infection in her mouth or ear. Should I call the Dentist too?

Hm it could just be an ear infection perhaps while she was laying down the pain just radiated in that area.

Once you get in to the MD see what he says and then call the dentist if they think it is otherwise.

She should have a cleaning once or twice a year anyway.

But let the MD see first. They can help you further
Reply:A tooth ache will cause pain to radiate to the ear - which then we believe we have an ear ache - but it is the tooth.
Reply:I would call both. Start with the dentist. Have them check the tooth. If everything is okay then go to the Doctor. If everything is not okay then the dentist should be able to fix it. I have had that happen before where the pain seems to move to different parts of the face. Sometimes I'll get a headache if my tooth hurts.
Reply:Depending on whether it was an upper tooth or lower tooth it could even be a sinus problem. Sometimes sinuses can cause tooth pain. I would say take her to whichever one (doctor or dentist) can get her in first.
