How to get rid of a tooth ache that will not go away!?
Obviously a visit to your dentist is a priority. You will get some ease if you use oil of cloves. Iprubrofen tablets are also effective.
Reply:when i had toothache i found an ice pack really helped
Reply:morphine
Reply:The dentist did not do the job right it seems. If it is that bad it might need a root canal. PLUS, the dentist should prescribe something for the pain...like a VICODIN. Poor dentistry it seems.
Reply:maybe she needs to just give it time, if it was a very bad cavity, the tooth can be very sensitive for a while. some sensitive toothpaste used over time may help. if it goes on too long, go back to the dentist again.
Reply:Use ice, and call the dentist ASAP!

Keep taking the pain killers and keep icing it, for about 15 minute intervals every 30 minutes or so.
Reply:I'm glad she's already consulted a dentist!

She can try soaking a cotton ball in "oil of clove" and letting it sit on the affected tooth. I've heard good feed-back regarding this method of pain relief.
Reply:Oil of cloves, also Clove oil, is an essential oil from the clove plant. It is a natural analgaesic used primarily in dentistry for its active ingredient eugenol. It can also be purchased in pharmacies over the counter, as a local anaesthetic for dental pain relief, mainly toothache; it is also often found in the aromatherapy section of health food stores. The oil produced by cloves can be used in many things from flavouring medicine to remedies for bronchitis, the common cold, a cough, fever, sore throat and tending to infections. Its country of origin is India.
Reply:Clove oil is really good. It numbs the pain. If not, try paracetamol and ibupfofen together, it's just aspirin you can't mix with ibuprofen. Good luck x
Reply:put clove oil on and around the tooth. it numbs it. And try 4 ibuprofen. aleve dosn't work.
Reply:if she has got an infection in there then there's no choice but to go back to the dentist. sad it's holiday period but it doesn't sound too promising does it. no point suffering, tooth ache is soul destroying.
Reply:If you don't have close oil just place a clove next to the offending tooth.
Reply:the clove oil helps for a while but personal experience says freshlybakedj is right. Consider getting a new dentist if the current one can't figure this out. X-ray may reveal the decay breached the root canals, and that means nothing will make it go away but root canal surgery or pulling the tooth. I did the first; if your dentist is good it's not so horrible, it's just time consuming and a bit expensive.
Reply:It seems people on here are a fan of cloves and clove oil for this problem. Do not tell your mother to use this. I was told this when I had tooth problems and my tooth got a LOT worse after using it. I had to have a root canal and eventually had to have it pulled anyway because of this bad advice. It is a really BAD idea! Trust me!
Reply:If the tooth continues to hurt she should go to the emergency medical clinic in her area. They will be able to help her.

Hope she isn't mixing the two over the counter medication as it isn't recommended - can make her real sick.
Reply:put a CLOVE on the tooth.

it works

hpwever get the tooth checked again by a good dentist
Reply:try the spray ! called lidocaine %10,count 1,2,3

and the pain is gone.

but i am not sure you can find it,sorry ,i

wish you were in London, cuz i have some,..
Reply:If you can find a dentist at this time of year, I suggest you visit him/her ASAP.

BTW Mr Vicodin-obsessive, you can't get it in the UK, thank goodness.
Reply:Just like everyone else - clove oil! Soak a cotton bud in it and place it on the tooth. You can get it in Boots, but if you can't find it, chew an actual clove, which you can get in the supermarket! This truly and honestly does get rid of the pain. However, it will not fix the underlying problem that is wrong with the tooth, it will just take the pain away. If, after a week of this, the tooth is still sore without the clove oil, your mum should go back to the dentist as the dentist has probably screwed something up and there will still be bacteria getting in there. But give it a try.
Reply:When I cannot find a dentist I have put a piece of dry bread between the teeth and the pressure of closing the jaw helped me under extreme circumstances to.
Reply:Look its xmas just have a few drinks i'm sure that will do the job.. good luck.
Reply:gargle with asprin put the crushed asprin on the tooth tastes yuk but woprks
Reply:If it doesnt go away get her to get her sinuses checked-I spent a fortune on root canal, crowns, and bridges only to discover I had acute sinus infections and after surgery had no more pain at all. This type of problem can vcause severe tooth pain especially in teeth at the back of the mouth which actually is referred pain from the maxilliary sinus......
Reply:The drilling may have aggravated the nerve in the tooth. This wont necessarily by the dentists fault. Sometimes a filling maybe close to the nerve and set it off. Certainly if the tooth is sensitive to hot and cold (especially hot) then you need to be seen again. Also if the tooth is tender to touch could be indication that the nerve is aggravated and could be dying. Don't panic though. Even if th tooth dies you may?? be able to save it with treatment called root canal treatment. This is a fairly involved process but can have great results but is more often than not No Guarantee. I would advise you phone you dentist and or contact the Dental Helpline number for you area. (find this by typing dental helpline and your county in the web search bar).

Nurofen is your best option for a pain killer though!

Remember...sensitive to hot and or tender to touch = see you dentist!

Please this is only advice.
Reply:Get it pulled out.
