Help for tooth ache and swollen gums?

hi guys. I have a very big problem. My tooth at the upper part at the back really hurts. i saw a cavity in it. It ate half of my tooth. (waah!) i've been having pain for almost a week now. but today is different. Even when i just close my mouth and it touches my lower teeth, it instantly hurts. (like it's as if it's coming off but it doesn't) I can't even eat. I've taken several mefenamic acids but the pain won't wore off. i even tried warm salt gargle. What can i do to get rid of the pain (temporarily) so that i could go to the dentist and get it extracted? thank you in advance!!

Help for tooth ache and swollen gums?
Obviously you have dental caries affecting that tooth and the swollen gums result from infection/inflammation - a condition known as gingivitis.

You're correct in going to see your dentist and in the meantime an old-fashioned remedy that can help toothache is Oil of Cloves - ask your pharmacists for details.
Reply:Go to the Dentists Soon!!!
Reply:Ibuprofen it works well on upper teeth. And get to a dentist quickly.
Reply:Clove oil works nicely, although you may find you're constantly putting the stuff on. You're better off taking a pain-killer at night though - that oil is not going to cut it. You also get a clove oil that contains camphor - I find it works faster. And yeah - get to the DENTIST! - (But you know that already, right?)
Reply:Sounds like you maybe bitings on your cheek when you close, if you are taking meds. like Tylenol take ev. 8hrs. if you Waite on it to hurt %26amp; then take the med. then you are chaseing to pain. Keep it under control even if you have to wake up in the middle of the night.
Reply:toothache and swollen gums are warning signs of gum disease. better get yourself to the dentist for utmost treatment and care. do not neglect gum disease for this can negatively affect the oral and overall health putting you at risk for health diseases. keep the mouth hydrated at all times by drinking a lot of water and having an all natural oral care product that can help fight away the cause of bad breath. visit http://www.themouthdoctor.com for more gum care tips.
Reply:If you haven't gone to the ER yet, go. There should be a dentist on-call than will be able to help you... Don't wait any longer; it sounds like you have an abscess and you shouldn't wait any longer to have it taken care of.

If the tooth is too 'hot', you will be put on antibiotics and pain meds until it calms down enough to be extracted.

Best of luck.
